Should I pay for SEO?

There are two types of people that will take your money if you try:

• Lagitimate SEO advisers (such as Search Engine Placement) who will help you do what is descibed in these pages
• Spammers and assosiated black hats who may or may not do anything and may well risk your site's standing

If the simple basics that are listed here seem beyond you - don't worry. SEO is not something that you can learn or do overnight and there are plenty of good quality resources on the web to help you.

Should you choose to try and find someone to pay to "do SEO" for you then be sure to ask for a lot of references to sites he/she has worked on. Be sure to check them for signs of the basic SEO you have read about here. If they have not done it for these example sites then they will not be doing it for you.

In my opinion the best thing you can do is learn all you can and do it yourself. With the number of fake, bad or ill informed people that claim SEO skills it is a game of rulette what you will finally get for your money. I suggest that it is not worth the risk.
